Upgrade eligibility after BYOD

I opened an account about a week ago. Post paid BYOD.

My intention was to just trade in my 11 pro max and get a new 12. However I’m being told by multiple sources that there’s a waiting period? I could have just opened a new line instead of doing a BYOD and having to wait months.

is this true? I’m going to have to wait to upgrade my line?

That's a great question, @techiebrad89

Thanks for asking, and for joining AT&T Wireless - we're glad to have you!

For brand new accounts there may be a 30 day waiting period, or a bill cycle, to meet upgrade eligibility. You can visit an AT&T Store and ask a sales representative if you're eligible for an exception. It's not guaranteed as they are made on account by account basis but its work a try.

We hope this information help. Please let us know what you decide to do.
