We are implementing a more secure way for customers using mail clients to login to their AT&T mail service.

If you use a mail client like Thunderbird, Gmail, or Outlook to access your mail on your mobile device or computer, you may need to update your settings.

      1.  You can access your email with apps that encrypt your username and password with Open Authentication (OAuth).
      2.  You can check your AT&T email at currently.com (formerly att.net).
      3.  You can use a Secure Mail Key to access email with an app that doesn't use encryption.

If you are using one of the following Non-OAuth compatible email apps:
    •  Outlook 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019
    •  Mozilla Thunderbird
    •  Windows Mail on personal computers running Windows 8 or older
    •  Apple Mail/Mac Mail on macOS 10.10/Yosemite or older

Creating Secure Mail Key for each of your AT&T email addresses and subaccounts will allow you to continue to:
    •  Access your AT&T Mail using your favorite email apps.
    •  Synchronize other account info, such as your calendar and contacts, to your email app.

It's easy to create a secure mail key from your mobile device, tablet, or computer. Have your User ID and password ready to sign in to myAT&T.

      1.  Go to Profile and choose Sign-in info.
      2.  Select the email account that needs a secure mail key. (You'll find a menu at the top if you have multiple accounts.)
      3.  Scroll to Secure mail key and select Manage secure mail key.
      4.  Choose the email address that you'd like to use, if you have more than one.
      5.  Select Add secure mail key and then enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easier to recognize.
      6.  Choose Create secure mail key.
      7.  Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key, so you have it handy if you need to update an email app on several devices.
      •  For security purposes, the secure mail key only displays until you select OK.
      •  If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can create new secure mail keys.
      8.  Select OK.
      9.  Go to your preferred email app and replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and replace them with your secure mail key.

A Secure Mail Key will not affect your AT&T email password.

You'll still use the same password you use for your AT&T Mail account in OAuth-compatible apps, myAT&T, other AT&T products like currently.com and webmail. And, when you change your AT&T email password, you won't need to get a new Secure Mail Key.
